Three Ways Blaize

Description

Time for a quick "because why not?" drawing. ;p

My recently presented-in-skteches OC Blaize Brown showing her basic three styles. Thing is, when I was coming up with her current design I tested plenty of hair styles to go along with her, and that sort of afro on the first figure from left to right (also seen on her sketch pic) was the chosen one. But now I think: "why not giving her mutiple hairstyles?". I mean, female characters, specially drawn ones, are rarely or never seen using other than the hairstyle that defines the character. There are some few exceptions, first names who comes to mind are Bulma from Dragon Ball and all of its sequels and Kimiko from Xiaolin Showdown. And as expected, the clothing subsequently changes to match the hair style or vice-versa.

This is what happened to Blaize here. I decided to give her three basic styles: the middle one, her chic style, a glamorous look with slick straightened hair that resembles black divas from the 50's, 60's and 70's (Blaize affirms that, despite being born and raised in Colombia, she identifies herself a lot with American black women mostly due to influence of TV shows and movies); the right one, her most casual style, or like she likes to put it, her "engage-holiday-mode style", tropical clothing and dreadlocks to bring up the Latin American spirit; the left one is her most commonly seen style, which would be the half term of the other two, nothing too modest but not too pompous either.

Any favorite style? Would you exchange any haircut and clothing combination? Come one, come all! ;)

I really love her casual style! That said, I love all the styles. :)

I'd say the dreadlock hair is pretty interchangeable between the styles, other than that I feel the combinations are perfect!
Really nice work here man! Lots of character and personality.
